Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
Sometimes, your teeth may be subject to a moderate amount of decay, making them unable to accept a traditional filling. For these cases, you may benefit from a porcelain inlay or onlay restoration. Inlays cover the interior biting surface of the tooth, up to the cusps, while onlays cover the cusps and exterior area of the tooth. Made from high-quality porcelain, these restorations are similar to a dental filling but actually strengthen the structure of the tooth after the decayed area has been removed. In most cases, teeth that have been restored with inlays or onlays don’t require support from a crown.
